Historic Huguenot Street

There is very little written record of the early Huguenot settlement of what is now known as New Paltz, New York. The Huguenot Redoubt, circa 1685 depicts the landscape and people of the early colonial settlement based on decades of archaeological findings. As a land first belonging to the Esopus Munsee, New Paltz’s early history is complex. The scholarship surrounding this effort is reflective of Historic Huguenot Street’s commitment to engage audiences in the exploration of America’s multicultural past in order to understand the historic forces that have shaped America.
